From the artist:

Hey, it’s Brandon! I’m a songwriter, violinist, and guitar player in Carpentersville, IL. I play original music with a quartet (Brandon Reisdorf Quartet), and perform regularly with several Chicago-area bands on violin/fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and vocals.

Or, maybe you’re looking for a backstory: I picked up the violin in ’99, and the guitar a year later. Luckily for me, my parents both had great tastes in music, so I grew up with a lot of good stuff around to listen to. I caught the bug and just wanted to do music all the time. Then I went to college to study Music Theory, Composition, and Philosophy. and I was writing all sorts of original music for things like string quartet or chamber orchestra. After experimenting for several years (occasionally atonally) I found myself drawn to that “three chords and the truth” that’s a little easier to find in folk-ier traditions.

I wandered my way through the bluegrass world, into the music of John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Townes van Zandt, Lyle Lovett, (the list goes on and on…). I found myself hooked on figuring out the art & craft of writing a song, and I’m happy to report that ‘I’m more confused now than I was when I started!’ — Hang on. Jotting that down.

I released my first record, “Political Songs for Political People” on the 4th of July 2020, just as election season was heating up into a full blown dumpster fire. Since then, I’ve done a bunch of recording with other projects, and writing songs. I’ve got a whole record’s worth that we’ll be tracking soon, and I can’t wait for you to hear them. Aiming for a 2024 release. In the meantime, be kind to yourself, and see ya out there!
