Butterfield Creek hales from Chicago's southland. We're an acoustic bluegrass and Americana band, that when full-forced are a five, sometimes six-piece acoustic band with astounding female lead vocals, so expect musicianship and a healthy dose of vocal harmonies. We'll play your favorites and some off-the-beaten track rock/pop classics acoustified and bluegrassed-up along with a few traditional bluegrass and old timey numbers along with a smattering of originals. Instruments include, guitars, banjo, violin/fiddle, and upright bass, but audiences can also expect accordion, mandolin and various percussion instruments. Butterfield Creek can also play as a trio or quartet if needed/preferred.
Of course, Butterfield Creek plays traditional venues (restaurants, breweries/wineries) and various festivals throughout the region, but we are also known to play apple orchards, farmer's markets and the like.
In addition, Butterfield Creek consists mostly of trained and practicing educators who are...yes, passionate about music, but are equally inspired by the role music plays as a historical and cultural marker as well as being a medium for storytelling. As such, Butterfield Creek welcomes opportunities to perform and educate at settings like libraries and cultural centers. We work closely with these venues to curate an experience that is ideal for the setting, and we are able to provide professional sound equipment and lighting if needed.
