The "Electoral College" -- Mr. Bill Kettering (a veteran, retired teacher from the Batavia High School Social Studies department) will offer an explanation of the original scheme -- accounting for state sovereignty, and fear of mob rule, and also, countering anticipated foreign nation's attempts to influence our elections. The Electoral College essentially loses its original purpose by 1824 with advent of the "popular vote". Yet, the Electoral College remains with us 196 years later, despite the college's math ability to randomly subvert the will of the majority, largely due to parochial state power interests.
